This presentation walks you through safely creating and using a Trezor hardware wallet, from unboxing to daily use, plus important security best practices.
A Trezor is a small, dedicated hardware device that stores your cryptocurrency private keys offline. By keeping keys on a physical device instead of on a computer or phone, it greatly reduces exposure to online attacks.
Check for tamper-evident seals and make sure the box is intact. Trezor ships in secure packaging; if seals appear broken, contact the vendor before proceeding.
Use the included USB cable to connect your Trezor to your computer. Visit trezor.io/start for the official on-screen setup wizard and downloads. Only use the official website.
Never follow direct file attachments or links from unsolicited emails—always type the URL or use a trusted bookmark.
Download Trezor Suite or use the official web app as instructed on Trezor's start page. Install and open the application, then choose “Set up new device.”
Trezor supports Windows, macOS, Linux, and browser-based flows. Follow on-screen prompts to install firmware if needed.
On the device, choose “Create a new wallet.” The Trezor will generate a seed phrase (recovery phrase). Write the words exactly in order on the provided recovery card or a secure backup method.
Never store your seed digitally (no photos, no cloud). Anyone with the seed can access your funds.
Set a strong PIN when prompted. The PIN protects the device if it's stolen. The PIN is entered only on the device — this prevents keylogging.
Confirm the firmware fingerprint in Trezor Suite matches what the device displays. Only install firmware from the official app to avoid compromised devices.
In Trezor Suite, select Receive, pick the account and address, then verify the address on your device screen before sharing it. Always verify the address on the device display.
To send, enter the recipient, amount, and confirm the transaction details on the Trezor device before approving. Verify fees, addresses, and amounts carefully.
Keep Trezor Suite updated, avoid suspicious links, and use official channels for support. For large holdings, consider multisig and cold storage strategies.
If your Trezor is lost or damaged, restore from your recovery seed on a new Trezor or compatible wallet. Test your recovery on a new device using a small amount first.
Always use the official start page for instructions and downloads: trezor.io/start. For support, contact Trezor through their official support channels listed on the site.
Thanks — stay safe. Protect your seed, verify addresses, and keep firmware official.
